Theory of of assembly of direct online starter

Direct online starter is used to to start or stop induction motor. It protects the motor from no voltage, low voltage, overvoltage, single phasing but it does not produce starting current of the motor.the motor is connected across the full line voltage through this is started so this starter are used when the starting current of motor does not cause the excessive voltage drop in the supply system generally this starters are used up 5 horsepower motor. It consists of an electrically operated 4 pole capacitor overload release along with current adjustment start and stop push button etc.

Procedure of direct line starter

Unscrew and remove outer cover of starter.
Observe all parts carefully before dismantling.
Disconnect the no volt coil start and stop push button.
remove the plunger from the core of electromagnet by using the screw over plunger and remove the spring under the plunger.
Remove the contactor from base of losing the screw.
remove the movable contact from planzer by pressing the spring of word or remove the upper side of plunger and separate movable contact.
remove the overload coil along with bimetallic strips from the fixed contact by losing the screw.
Fixed contact can also be removed from the contractor base by unscrewing if required.
Clean all the contact points with energy power if required.
Unscrew the bottom plate of contractor and remove the no volt coil from core of electromagnetic.
Start and stop push button can also be remove
Assemble and test the starter assembly is the reversible procedure of dismantling.

Precautions for assembling the direct online starter

All connections should be tight.
Ensure that all the parts should be and their proper place.
Damaged contact should be replaced.
The plunger should move free after assembling of contactor.
The control circuit connections should be correct and according to circuit diagram.
The contact should not touch each other in opposition.adjust the spring to maintain the proper gap between them.
