Layout of transmission system

Transmission system

Introduction

Electrical energy generated at generating station. The generating station are located in remote area. Therefore, the problem of making energy available at the door of every consumer areas.for this purpose conductor carrying energy are run from the station to consumers. This network of conductor is known as transmission and distribution system.

Layout of transmission system

the system of carrying bulk power from the power station to substation is known as the transmission system. This is classified into two types.
  1. Primary transmission
  2. Secondary transmission

Primary transmission

The electric power at 220 KV or 132 KV is transmitted by overhead lines at this high voltage this forms the primary transmission system.in primary transmission lines pens between tower a large and the conductors are of aluminium stands for tightness and 3 phase, 3 wire system is always employed.

Secondary transmission

on the outskirts of the city where are substation which step down the primary transmission voltage to 66kv for 33kv and power is transmitted at this voltage in this three phase 3 wire system is used.
